Albuquerque Chinese American Film Festival 2023

CHINESE AMERICAN PIONEERS

This year the Albuquerque Chapter is bringing more stories of Chinese Americans and their struggles and triumphs to the screen! First will be a retrospective of the Detroit Activist Grace Lee Boggs, then we’ll have a look at three Chinatowns and how they have fared and evolved over time. Then Blurring the Color Line, looking at how Chinese Americans and African Americans got along in the Jim Crow South. Then a true pioneer in American Cinema, the actress Anna May Wong will be presented, covering overt racism in the film industry over the years, and finally the mainstream marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. A long time coming, the first Asian Super Hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

All this in a new venue! We’re now at the South Broadway Cultural Center in Albuquerque, a move from the Northeast Heights, with a meet the director the next day at UNM! Make a plan to see our collection on the DAY! We’re still free, but tickets are highly advised! Below is the link to the ticket site.
